Digging Myself Into A Whole

“I hate the idea that you ought to read the whole of anybody.” — Robert Frost

If I’m interpreting this correctly, I do this. I find and author I like and devour all of their work until it’s gone and I’m caught up (if author is living) or exhausted, the books piled up like a tombstone, or a shrine, in their memory. I learn from this, I make connections about technique and characterization, dialogue and description. Why would Frost despise this, unless he’s arguing against forensic deconstruction, seeking to psychoanalyze the author/creator whom he feels should exist apart from their creation like God…
